The Chlorine actually doesn't affect the Gold at all. Since it's real 14KT Gold plating and it's coated on top of Silver. There's nothing that's corroding the Gold.

On average, the plating will last 1 and a half years, in some cases it can last longer.
To take care of the chain, it is recommended to leave it in a cool and dry place. Do not leave it outside in the heat for for example
Yes you can take this to the gym but it is not recommended to always take it. As the acidity in sweat will eat through the Gold plating faster. It is not recommended to use during physical activity.
